Under recent circumstances, where the realization of a sustainable society has become a globally important issue, companies are required to establish responsible supply chains. For this purpose, it is necessary for us to fulfill our social responsibility not only by ourselves but by our entire supply chain, and to do this, the cooperation of our suppliers is indispensable. Against this background, we established these Supply Chain Guidelines to indicate our expectations and requirements for our suppliers in more detail in line with the Sustainable Procurement Policy established in fiscal 2022.

Supply Chain Guidelines

  1. Compliance with laws and regulations
    1. Compliance with laws and regulations and respect for international norms
      We comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and social norms of the countries and regions where we operate, and respect international codes of conduct. Where the laws and regulations of a country or region have not been adequately developed, we respect international codes of conduct.
    2. Establishment of compliance systems
      We establish systems to ensure strict compliance, including internal reporting systems, and conduct employee education and awareness-raising activities.
    3. Prevention of corruption
      We do not engage in any form of corruption, including bribery, fraud, or illegal political donations.
    4. Prevention of anticompetitive behavior
      We do not engage in any acts that are detrimental to fair opportunities, including unreasonable restraint of trade (such as cartels and bid rigging) and unfair trade.
    5. Prevention of abuse of advantageous position
      We do not engage in any acts that cause disadvantage to our suppliers or others by abusing our advantageous position.
    6. Prevention of offers for and acceptance of inappropriate benefits
      We do not offer to or accept from our stakeholders any inappropriate benefits (such as entertainment, gifts, and money) to obtain or maintain unfair benefits or preferential treatment.
    7. Appropriate responses to conflict of interests
      We prohibit the receipt of personal benefits that harms the interests of the company where interests are in conflict between the company and its employees. Also, when a conflict of interests arises or may arise, we report the situation promptly and avoid the conflict of interests.
    8. Management of imports and exports
      We establish appropriate control systems and implement import/export procedures for technologies and goods regulated by laws and regulations. Also, we do not conduct business with any country, region, entity, or individual that is subject to international economic sanctions.
    9. Elimination of relationships with antisocial forces
      We do not have any relationships with antisocial forces in any manner.
    10. Protection and respect of intellectual property
      We appropriately protect intellectual property rights (such as patent rights, trademark rights, and copyrights) held by or belonging to the company so that they will not be infringed on by third parties. We also respect, and do not use without permission, infringe, or impair third parties' intellectual property rights.
    11. Management and protection of personal information and confidential information
      We strictly manage and properly handle the confidential information and personal information of the company, its customers, and third parties.
    12. Prevention of fraud
      We establish accessible and effective hotlines for reporting or consulting about concerns regarding legal violations, fraud, and the like. We also ensure that the reporters' confidentiality is strictly maintained and that they will not be treated disadvantageously on the grounds of their reporting.
  2. Human rights and labor practices
    1. Prohibition of discrimination
      We respect the culture and customs of each country and region and prohibit any form of discrimination on the grounds of race, color, creed, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, age, origins, mental or physical disability, illness or the like, or any other cause.
    2. Prohibition of inhumane treatment
      We respect the human rights of employees and prohibit harsh and inhumane treatment, including abuse and harassment of every kind.
    3. Prohibition of child labor
      We do not employ children under the minimum working age or have minor workers under the age of 18 engage in dangerous and harmful work or work that may impair their development.
    4. Prohibition of forced labor
      We employ all employees at their own free will and do not have them engage in any forced labor. We ensure that all labor is performed based on employees' voluntary will and do not unreasonably retain ID cards or other documents, illegally collect deposits, or have employees pay recruitment fees or the like as deemed unreasonable under international codes of conduct.
    5. Respect for rights of local residents and indigenous peoples
      We give due consideration to the rights of local residents and indigenous peoples established in laws, regulations, or social norms of the countries and regions where we operate.
    6. Securing of adequate wages
      We comply with the legal minimum wages in the countries and regions where we operate, strive to pay amounts no less than a living wage, and do not unreasonably reduce wages. We make transparent employment agreements in writing with employees. We also establish legally mandated benefit systems and provide safe and secure work environments for employees.
    7. Appropriate management of working hours
      We appropriately manage employees' working hours, holidays, and leave, and prohibit excessive overtime work. We also respect international human rights principles where the laws and regulations of a country or region do not meet international standards.
    8. Respect for employees' rights of association and collective bargaining
      We respect employees' rights of association and collective bargaining as means to engage in labor-management consultations concerning the working environment, wage levels, and the like.
    9. Responses to problems
      We establish accessible and effective hotlines for reporting or consulting about concerns regarding human rights violations and the like and ensure that the reporters' confidentiality is strictly maintained and that they will not be treated disadvantageously on the grounds of their reporting.
  3. Safety and health
    1. Establishment of safe and sanitary work environments
      We provide safe, sanitary, and healthy work environments for employees. We identify accidents that may occur and risks that may cause injury in the workplace and take appropriate measures to prevent accidents and disasters.
    2. Consideration for employees' health
      We appropriately manage the health of employees through regular medical checkups and other means to prevent mental and physical health problems that may occur. We also identify physically demanding operations and appropriately manage them so that they will not lead to accidents and illnesses.
    3. Responses to industrial accidents and illnesses
      We identify the circumstances of industrial accidents and illnesses, and in the event of occurrence, take appropriate measures.
    4. Emergency preparation
      We assess risks to workplace safety, prepare emergency countermeasures to minimize damage, and provide education and training for employees.
    5. Health and safety communication
      We provide employees with necessary protective equipment and explanations and training for work methods so that employees can perform work safely and prevent unexpected accidents and disasters. For any employees who do not understand the company's official language, we provide information in languages that they can understand or illustrations or the like.
    6. Sanitation facilities, meals, and housing
      We appropriately ensure the safety and sanitation of facilities provided for employees (such as dormitories, break rooms, toilets, and cafeterias).
  4. Environmental consideration

      We obtain all permits and approvals, register, and report as required by laws and regulations for the execution of business.
    2. Procurement of raw materials
      We comply with safety standards established by the laws and regulations of each country or region. We check traceability as necessary to identify circumstances in production areas and strive to procure raw materials collected and cultivated using methods that give consideration to the environment, including resource conservation.
    3. Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
      We strive to reduce and control emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons. We set voluntary targets, as necessary, to reduce emissions, and work toward achieving them.
    4. Effective use of resources and energy and reduction of waste
      We strive to improve energy use efficiency, make effective use of resources, reduce waste, and reduce the use of water resources. We set voluntary targets as necessary, and work toward improvement.
    5. Prevention of air, water, soil, and other environmental pollution
      We strive to prevent pollution of air, water, soil, etc. through means such as establishing voluntary standards as necessary, beyond observing laws, regulations, and the like.

      We provide consumers and customers with accurate and easy-to-understand information concerning our products and services.

      We strive to establish systems with sufficient supply capabilities that enable flexible responses to sudden changes in demand.

      We ensure the transparency of raw materials so that no illegally procured raw materials are used.
